How long does an exclusive Arabic typeface take?

Eight to sixteen weeks for one complete weight, depending on the alphabets and weights involved. Drawing the glyphs and their joins takes the longest; fitting and delivery fill the final weeks. Bilingual faces — Arabic and Latin on one baseline — sit at the top of that range.

What is the difference between an exclusive typeface and a retail font?

An exclusive typeface is drawn for your brand alone and never sold to anyone else, so it becomes part of the identity the way a colour or a mark is. A retail font is licensed and used by others too. We design the first, and sell the second through the RTL Type store.

Does the Arabic typeface include a Latin companion and numerals?

Yes when it is asked for, and we recommend it for any brand publishing in two languages. The Latin is built to the Arabic's own proportions so the two sit on one baseline with no shift in weight, and both Arabic-Indic and Western numerals are delivered.

What is handed over at the end?

The font files as OTF, TTF and WOFF2 for the web, a written licence stating who may use it and where, and a short usage guide with the weights and sizes we recommend. Source files stay with us unless agreed otherwise.

Can an existing typeface be extended to Kurdish or Persian?

Yes, and it is work we know: we drew the Kurdish extension of Al Jazeera's news typeface. Extending a face means drawing the additional glyphs in the original's own idiom and fitting their joins, not adding marks to existing letters.
